Rep. Scott Randolph to lead Orange Democrats State Rep. Scott Randolph is the new chairman of the Orange County Democratic Party. Members of the Orange Democrats voted Randolph into the top position Monday night by acclamation. Randolph has represented District 36 since his election in 2006. He replaces outgoing chair Amy Mercado, who ran against Dean Cannon in District 35 in 2010. In a message to Orange Democrats, Randolph conveyed his thanks to them for electing him as their Chair at Monday night's General Meeting. "I feel truly honored with the privilege of leading our delegation and our party candidates to victory in 2012, a crucial election year! A huge thanks should also go to my predecessor, Amy Mercado, for her hard work and leadership. We have so many exciting things to look forward to as Orange County Democrats, and I am very excited to be a part of it all!" "We have to make sure we have good, viable candidates in as many races as possible, and give them the confidence that there's a local party there that can make things happen for them," Randolph said. "Everybody agrees that Central Florida is the battleground area of the battleground state that could determine the presidency, so it's important that we have viable candidates up and down the ticket to try to bring voters out."
