 | This Just In from Carol C at Seminole County Democrats.... I am not sure if you heard about the fire that destroyed a home on Jericho Drive in Casselberry. [Read the latest Orlando Sentinel story here.]
Well, it was our neighbor, Paul Dagastino, whose home was destroyed and who died in that fire. Paul was a Seminole County School bus driver who had suffered a heart attack recently and was recuperating at home and was not able to walk without a walker. He was on oxygen, which probably was a contributing factor in his death. The fire department was not able to enter the residence to attempt a rescue because of the oxygen tanks.
Paul and his family were Super Dems in Precinct 8. [Richie and Tony were there recently talking to the family about the importance of absentee ballots.]
The Dagastinos did not have insurance on the home and there is a rather large fund-raising effort under way for the family.
The family now consists of Meryl, the mom, her daughter and she has custody of two grandchildren, Trinity and Vincent. The Red Cross has set them up in a hotel for only two days.
